Choosing the right networking event

There are no hard and fast rules to choosing the right networking event for your and your business but there are however, some things that you might want to consider before committing to attend.

Is the event relevant to your business area?  You can find this out easily enough by researching the company holding the event.  If you look online I am certain that there will be reviews from candidates from past events that will help you to decide whether this is the right event for you.

Networking events can come in all guises, from an away day with your peers to an evening out bowling.  Do you want to attend a formal presentation from an expert but meet other contacts or do you want to participate in a more informal outing.

How much expenditure are you prepared to commit? An away day can be costly as you have travel expenses and overnight stays in hotels to consider as well as the events costs.  This is why it is so important to check that this event is going to be right for your business. [Read more...]

How Has Business Evolved Using Social Networking?

Business communication has dramatically changed since the ready availability of work and personal computers and especially since the invention of the Internet.  We can communicate and indeed do business with customers globally at very little cost.  Prior to computers communication would have been paper based and rely on the postal service to deliver quotations of work or invoices, taking a longer time to complete business transactions.  We can now send quotations to customers almost instantaneously via email and complete a transaction within minutes.

Today business marketing courses are commonplace at universities and more students begin their careers in business marketing than in consumer marketing. Furthermore for the professionals, conferences on business-to-business marketing are held every year.

Business marketing also known as industrial marketing involves the marketing of goods and services from one business to another, with the business trying to make a profit (business-to-business marketing – B2B marketing). Whereas Consumer Marketing involves providers of goods or services selling directly to individuals or households through mass media and retail channels. It is marketing to an individual for personal use (Business-to-Consumer, or B2C marketing). Therefore in broad terms, marketing can be split into two catergories – consumer marketing (“Business to Consumer”) and industrial marketing (“Business to Business”). [Read more...]
